I believe that the poverty problem right now is the biggest threat to the natural world of Africa and because of this that should be the main problem that people in Africa should be worried about. I think this because as long as people are just barely living on the small amount of money they are getting in their income, people are going to do anything in order to bring that amount of money up for better living. Unfortunately that includes crime and the crime that people are committing results in the destruction of their forests for charcoal and the poaching of animals like the gorillas and in some areas of Africa, Elephants are sharing the same fate. With a balanced economy, Africa could have tree farms just for the purpose of gathering charcoal instead of having people do it illegally. Also, the tree farms would provide more jobs for the people who truly seek them out.

The issues of bringing stability and peace to Africa, conserving wildlife of the Virunga, and poverty are major issues in this continent. However, I believe that poverty is the biggest issue in Africa. People will do anything to get money or will sell anything to get money. To resolve this, Africans signed a treaty, but, unfortunately, this did not solve the problem. The Rwandan government tried to clear everything in the rainforests, including crops and trees. Poachers and people that are involved in the illegal charcoal business are why park rangers were placed in these parks. But the people involved in such acts didn’t care about the park rangers. About 110 park rangers have been killed while guarding these parks. Charcoal trade is still going on in Africa. This is how people make money. They make the charcoal, then sell it to people that need it. Other people make money from using the charcoal, such as preparing food with it. The only reason why some people are making money in Africa is illegally, and hopefully the government finds another way to help people make money.

What is happening in Africa is tragic and it is difficult to say what you need to do first; solve the poverty problem, restore peace and stability by ending the war, or protect the wildlife. Personally, I think you need to solve each of these problems to stop the chaos going on today. If you give the poor jobs, they have money. If they have money, they don’t need to burn down forests to make and sell charcoal, (illegally) to just barely make enough to feed themselves, saving the forest for the gorillas, and so on. If I had to choose which one to work on first, is probably ending the corruption and war; to restore political order and stability. If you end the war, the gorillas won’t have as high of a risk of being killed. The fighting between the people has brought animals into battle. The gorillas are still in danger because of people sneaking in to the Virunga National Park, cutting down trees, and burning them for charcoal. By doing so, they are destroying the habitat for those few seven-hundred gorillas left. Not only are the gorillas in danger, but so are many other wildlife creatures as well, like hippopotamuses and elephants. I understand why the United States can’t go in with force-risking trade with China is a big move. But maybe if we were to talk with them-instead of barging into their business- we could possibly work something out. It would save a lot of lives; people and animals.

I believe that the most important priority in this region right now is to bring stability and peace by ending the corruption and war. I think this because once a stable government is in order, people will have leaders to follow to solve the other problems. If leaders are in place, they could be able to help bring an end to the war. Bringing an end to the war is important, because people need to be united as a nation to help poverty and the wildlife. If the war is not ended before poverty and before the wildlife conservation is taken care of, those thinks won’t be the people’s number one priority; fighting eachother will be their number one priority. With peace and government established, it will be easier to agree, and make new laws on charcoal trade; charcoal is a vital part of their life, and without compromise about it, the fighting will only get worse. Establishing these things will also led to helping the issue of poverty because these leaders will come up with new laws to help the poor. For example, some people believe that the new government here in the United States will help the poor part of the country with the new government's plans. Some people also believe that these new leaders will help bring our country out of war around the world. The new government idea might be exactly what this region in Africa needs to help start the long process to restoring the region.

I think that the most important priority is to bring stability and peace to the region by ending the corruption and war. The poverty won’t stop unless all of the “dictators” and other corrupt authority figures are taken down, peacefully or not. Even if we solved the poverty problem so that people would not need to take coal from the national parks, I am sure that the leaders would still kill the forest and animals. The poachers are very difficult to stop and fighting them isn’t solving any problems. Over 110 rangers in the park have been killed for trying to save the gorillas. If the Africans can find a peaceful solution by themselves, that would be the best solution. Since this outcome is unlikely though, I think that the United States should intervene. I think we can make a difference if we help fund some of the poverty stricken regions of Africa. We can also try to work something out with Africa’s government to arrest the corrupt dictators and illegal militias.

I believe that the most important thing to do in this region is to bring stability and peace by stopping corruption and war. The problem is that the Africans are doing everything possible to make money, so that they will be able to feed themselves and family members. To fix this, Africans made a treaty awhile back, but as you can see it has not helped the problem at all . The government should focus on trying to help the Africans find a way to make money without doing all these terrible things. They should act quick on helping gorillas that are still in danger because of Africans sneaking in to the Virunga National Park and killing them. America should give ideas to the African government on finding ways on to stop the problems.

The most important priority to this region should be bringing stability and peace to end corruption and war. If you bring stability and peace then there won’t be any fighting. To end the corruption and war there must first be a strong government to keep everything in order. Also ending the corruption and war will result in a safer environment in the Virunga which will help the gorillas and other wildlife that inhabit it. Another reason why bringing stability and peace should be the most priority is because you can’t have a well functioning region unless there is stability. Without stability you can’t conserve the wildlife of the Virunga or solve the poverty issues. And if you have war then most of the country’s money is going into supply furthering poverty. Also many innocents would be killed in the process. If there is no stability or peace then country will continue to worsen until there is no country left and there is a bunch of separate groups continuously fighting and killing one another.

The most important priority to solve in this region is to solve the poverty. Because people do not have the money it requires them to do illegal thing to get the money. They don’t care if its killing gorillas or the destruction of forest to get charcoal. If they do not confront the poverty problem first people will continue to do the crimes. When people cut down the trees to get the charcoal it also affects everyone else. It affects the gorillas because it destroys their habitat; it affects the world because cutting down trees puts carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The government needs to fix the poverty problem because people will continue to do what ever they have to, to get money to support their family.

They should fix the poverty in the Congo. They should end war all the wars and corruption is the first priority. They need a leader that can take care of the country and lead this country in the right direction. The government should to stop all the crimes and Start proteceting themsleves The government hire a responsible leader that can control the national park.Honoré Mashagiro supports the illegal trade of charcoal. I think that the united states should watch and see's what happen and if it's out of hand we should step and try to help not fight but help them. They should stop killing the Gorzillas and worrying about one another because the Gorzillas are not hurting anybody is jjust that the leader didn't know what he was doing and decided to kill the Gorzillas. The leader should go to jail and think about what he has done.I also think that those tree farms will provide more jobs for people.

Bringing peace and stability by ending the corruption will help solve all the other problems if we focus on this problem first. Bringing an end to the war will probably bring an end to the violence and the killing of the wild life. Even if we tackle the problem of helping the people in poverty to get some type of descent income won’t matter because we wouldn’t have a strong government to maintain that change. And just focusing on the killing of wildlife and rangers that guard the wildlife of Virunga won’t do any good if they don’t have a stable government to back it up if something goes wrong. I seriously believe that if they end the corruption the other problems such as poverty and killing of wildlife and rangers will become easier to deal with. I understand that people are suffering and dying but we won’t get anywhere if we don’t bring an end to the corruption.

In my belief each of the issues discussed in the question are critical priorities to the region However I feel that by solving one you can solve or make great progress on all three issues. This one is the poverty crisis. By solving the poverty crises the you take away the need for the poverty stricken rebels to poach or trade charcoal. If the rebels no longer need to rely on these sources of money the forests will not be burnt for charcoal and the gorillas and other wildlife will not be killed thus in a sense conserving the wildlife also.
The next big issue in the region is the war. The war kills thousands of people to try and fight off the rebels and save the wildlife in the Vurunga national park. Also because of this ware there is little political order which could be restored with the end of the rebel presence in the park. If the poverty issue would be resolved there would no longer be a need for the rebel presence in the park and they would cease to rebel. When the rebel army ceased to rebel I feel as though the genocide would stop and order would be restored
In conclusion if the poverty crisis in the region were to be resolved the rebel army would cease to rebel. This would create many outcomes such as an end of the destruction of wildlife in the Vurunga National park including the endangered silverback gorillas and the trees. Also the war and the genocide would stop and therefore many innocent people would not be killed in the unnecessary violence. In all by simply solving the poverty crisis it is possible to bring great relief to the other two issues in the process

I believe that the only way that they will have peace and no poverty is to stop the corruption and end the war. Even if they have to do it non-peacefully. Once this problem is solved then they can work on saving the Mountain Gorillas, Hippo population, and the Elephants. I think that they can stop this by taking all the poachers that kill the Mountain Gorillas, Hippo population, and the Elephants to jail. I think this because they are committing an illegal crime and the animals should have justice and not be killed. This is what I think about this situation.

Before worrying about the conservation issue in the Virunga National Park, or the poverty problem having to do with charcoal being produced from burning forests, I think that stability and peace must be regained by ending war and corruption. I believe this is the best solution to the overall problem because once political unrest is resolved; the other problems will have a better chance of being resolved as well. An example of this is with the poverty problem. People are burning forests in order to gain charcoal and sell it to support them and their families. If political unrest is resolved then the economy will improve in the region and therefore decrease the poverty level. If the poverty level is decreased, then the burning of forests will be decreased as well, if not resolved. The chain reactions having to do with the overall solution to the political unrest will align themselves, if the government, and politics, in the region are secured.

The person who has contributed the present day Russia in my opinion is Ivan the terrible. He might not have had a good impact on Russia but he was a terrible leader. He was the third grandson of Ivan the great. I think that because he made the secret police and he set the country back a couple centuries. If he hadn’t done that many of the worlds events might not have played the way they had. Maby the USSR wouldn’t have gained the power they had if they had a strong central and wouldn’t have become communist. Maby then the USA would not have been so involved in the middle east because we would not have been in the afgahnistan war. I think that someone who hurts a country affects it more than someone who leads it in the right direction. Because it takes more effort to come back from resesion, then to join one.

But if they keep this up in just a couple centuries it will not be any more gorillas left.
